The Rotary Club of Solon has announced Alec Krienen as its student of the month for November 2012.

Alec, a Solon High School senior, is a natural leader who has the ability to be true to his values and to demonstrate focus and control in everything he chooses to do.  He has demonstrated this through athletics, working as a guidance office assistant and in the classroom.  Alec is an honor roll student and an AP scholar (despite a disability).  He is also a two-year starter on the varsity soccer team and has received Northeast Ohio Conference and Solon High School Scholar Athlete Awards.

Alec is also active the community, serving as an officer for the Solon High School chapter of Students Against Destructive Decisions.  He also has worked for the Solon Recreation Department as a soccer youth coach and as a camp counselor for its science camp, Camp Invention.  Both of those work and volunteer choices reinforce his commitment to serving as a role model and using his talents to give back to his community.  In brief remarks to the Rotary Club on November 7 while accepting his award, Alec said that "it's nice to see hard work pay off."
