Rotary 101

Regular Rotary meeting - work session.  If you missed last work session, you missed much progress to Service Above Self. 

Please try to attend!

We have a great meeting planned as Jill Frankel the Director of the Solon Senior Center and Yvette Hasan,  Community Services Manager/Social Worker will visit with us.

They will discuss what is going on at the Senior Center and their current needs.

Our guest speaker is Carolyn Lookabill. Presenting "The Greying of Northeast OH-You will be Surprised!"

After hours at Michael Angelo’s Winery

May 29, 4-6pm

5515 Broadview Road, Richfield OH

This is an opportunity for Solon Rotary members and Solon Chamber Board members to tour and experience Michael Angelo’s Winery in Richfield. Brothers Michael and Matthew Ciocca are eager to invest in a second winery in Solon that includes a bakery, restaurant and vineyards on 24 acres at 37500 Aurora Road. During this visit, the Ciocca brothers will provide a tour and share their vision for the Solon location. The land must be rezoned for this project and the issue is expected be on the November ballot. This is meant to be an enjoyable and informative networking event. The Solon Rotary as a club will not take a position on the rezoning issue.

Rotary dues will cover the cost of the food that will be provided and soft drinks for Rotary members and one guest. There will be a cash bar.

Our guest speaker is Fareeda Farhan Naduvil Valappil 

Fareeda is a Student at Case Western Reserve University and Solon High School graduate. She serves as president of the Remote Area Medical chapter at her university, which travels and volunteers at pop-up dental and vision clinics.  A pop-up clinic is being planned for Cleveland in February, 2026. They serve at least 300 people at each pop-up clinic, Fareeda will share how we as a Rotary can help make this pop-up happen in Cleveland

Our guest speaker is Ashley Angelone a pastry chef with the Cleveland Restaurant Group will talk about plans to open a bakery called The Wicked Whisk Bakery in the former Birdigo location at 32975 Aurora Road. She’ll provide some samples and use the Solon Rotary Club as a focus group for mapping out a fantastic and creative menu of cookies, pastries, cakes and breads.

Our guest speaker is Kevin Wermer, Rotary District 6630 – Rotary Youth Exchange Chair will talk about the Rotary's Youth Exchange program. He'll provide tips on ramping up a program of our own and the many benefits that students and communities receive by participating in it.

You are all welcome to the monthly Membership Zoom Meeting Tuesday, September 9th at noon.  We will have much to discuss regarding growing our membership.  More membership = more volunteers and more community impact!
